Bending to break book review!

It’s another LoveBooksTours review post!

Today my review is on the A.L Hartwell novel ‘Bending To Break’.

Olivia Heart has a tragic past and a closed heart. Focusing on her fledgling career to become a lawyer she doesn’t realize a moment of kindness, eight years ago, would be the undoing of all her hard work to remain hidden. Giving away her plane ticket in an act of defiance, Olivia seals her fate to a man who sees right through her.

In the passing eight years, Luca Caruso waits in the shadows, protecting her with his anonymity, money, and four highly trained guards – repaying his debt. The repayment stalls when one guard steps out of line, forcing Luca to steal her away, to submit to a life of his blinding obsession and desire.

Olivia wrestles with her head and her heart, desiring her freedom but also the secrets from the man that stole her away in the middle of the night. Amid his desperation for her acceptance, Olivia begins to uncover his dark secrets and attempts to flee. Feeling betrayed, Luca forces Olivia to make a difficult decision.

This book was a very interesting read for me. I was hesitant at first about reading it because I was worried it would be a bit ‘fifty shades’ like (and I am not a fan of that series). But the author surprised me with this one.

The story is not only well written, but instead of just giving you Olivia’s point of view throughout the story, it also gives you Lucas’s point of view too. Which makes the story even more appealing. It is completely obvious from the get-go that Lucas is a tad psychotic (I mean, stalking a woman for 8 years then kidnapping her isn’t normal is it), but with the Lucas chapters you actually get to acknowledge what he is thinking, how deep his obsession is. Instead of just constantly reading from Olivia’s point of view about being a victim.

I honestly had no idea where the story was going to go, in parts of the book I found myself just as torn and confused about everything as Olivia was. It was a very gripping story from beginning to end. Annnnd it’s been left on a cliff hanger too!! So I obviously will have to get the sequel when it comes out to find out what happens next.

It was a great book, I couldn’t put it down. I look forward to the next one 🙂
